Our history
‘Ukuvuma’ – A Xhosa word meaning, ‘to acknowledge’, ‘to be in harmony’ or ‘to agree’.
The history of ukuvuma
Ukuvuma Solutions opened its doors in November 2004, this is the same year Facebook was founded and 3 years before the Apple gave the world iPhone. Our main business focus was predominantly IBM Domino and Notes support.
By the end of 2005, Ukuvuma Solutions had three employees and had accumulated 40 clients, taking on corporate domino rollouts and migrations as our biggest projects.
In November 2008 Ukuvuma Solutions merged with Ocera Technologies and started Domino development. John Jardin joined the Ukuvuma Solutions team as the CTO of the organisation from Ocera.
When the recession hit in 2009, Ukuvuma Solutions showed a 50% growth. This was only possible through the hard work and dedication from the Ukuvuma Solutions team and our loyal clients.
A benchmark in the IT Community was achieved in 2011 when John Jardin adopted and implemented the XPages Technology and started sharing information socially to help the IT Community.
During 2012, Ukuvuma Solutions embarked on and successfully completed the first Microsoft Office 365 migration. Furthermore, John Jardin became the first IBM Champion in Africa, and he was invited to present at the IBM Connect Event – this was a tremendous honour for Ukuvuma Solutions.
Throughout 2013 Ukuvuma Solutions branched out once again and created a Cyber Security organisation, ACDS. During this year Ukuvuma shouldered a large Office 365 Project which held more than 1200 seats.
John Jardin took charge of the forming of yet another new organisation in 2016. The main focus of this organisation was middleware and integration as a service.
In 2017, Dawid van Heerden and Ukuvuma Solutions started experimenting with a new technology called Microsoft Power Apps, earmarking this platform for great things in the future.
In 2018, Manuel Capazorio was entrusted with the position of Managing Director of Ukuvuma Solutions.
In 2019, David van Heerden was nominated as a Microsoft Business Applications MVP and Ukuvuma Solutions became a Microsoft Gold and Power Apps Partner.
In 2020 Microsoft South Africa nominated Ukuvuma Solutions as a finalist in the Power Platform Partner of the Year Award.
The future is bright at Ukuvuma Solutions! We will continue to push boundaries from a technological perspective, adopting new technology and changing the game for our clients.
